We are actively reaching out to people to host upcoming webinars, and welcome submissions. If you would like to present in an upcoming seminar kindly let us know below.
We are proud to have organised the first in a series of webinars aimed at bringing stakeholders within the aviation industry closer together as we face mounting challenges and a collective desire to solve them with the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I strongly believe that only by sharing our mutual experiences and finding a common path for future recovery, we will be able to get out of this in reasonable times.” – Emilia De Santis
Hosted on the 31st March with the complete support of Terminal Manager Emilia De Santis of Napoli International Airport (Italy). Attendees from 26 countries, Including USA, Japan, UK, France, Oman etc.. attentively listened to the experiences, reactive measures and vision of an airport currently ahead of many in the curve. With Emilia’s experiences and insights it is hoped that many can learn and prepare for what they may face at their respective airports in the days to come.
THE IMPACT OF COVID-19 ON NAPLES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT was delivered in a transparent manner, covering various subjects that all attendees would have benefited from, topics included:
- The drastic reduction in Passenger traffic
- Governmental measures and implications for air-travel and airport operations
- Health and Safety measures
- Provisional passenger numbers
- PRM passenger numbers
- A record breaking 2019 vs March 2020 numbers
- Potential airline closures and the impact on Naples International Airport
- The need of reviewing investment plans
- Renegotiating service contracts
- Implementing Smart-working
- The closure or retail spaces
- Re negotiations of retails
Emilia’s presentation ended with a Q and A session, some of the questions answered included
How has social distancing been implemented at the airport?
What has been the biggest challenge in managing a PRM service in this emergency situation?
How can a 1 to 1 service be delivered safely at this moment?
Were employees paid more to work under increased risk situations?
What positive outcomes have been taken aware from this?
Given the positive feedback and warm messages received following the webinar, it is clear, as a collective group of industry stakeholders, we can help one another by sharing our own experiences and insights. As we search for solutions and effective ways to incorporate necessary operational and strategic changes there remains uncertainty, but this is a fundamental moment where we all need to set aside our competitive mindset and work as one by sharing knowledge in an open, communicative platform.
Many questions remain unanswered, how long will it take for the industry to recover its passenger traffic? Will PRM traffic be more affected that other passengers? Will air-travel change in the future? Can airlines survive this period? Should airport operators and service companies change their roles moving forward?
We would like to thank Emilia De Santis for taking the time, her passion and support of the web series. A recording of the webinar can be watched here
